I wanted to use my darling love sign in my Halloween gallery wall but it was way too cute! I turned it around to see if I would like to paint the back of the wood black and just use that. As I was looking at it I loved how the raw wood look so I just left it as is. However, if you wanted to paint the back of a farmhouse sign white or black be my guest. Let me show you how to display your photos with a mousetrap frame. If you want to see this on Studio 5 then click here and you can watch me make all the gallery wall projects from the show.
If you are going to paint your sign do this first so that it can dry while you get the mousetraps ready. I really loved the raw wood so I chose to leave it. But white would be cute so that you could use it for Christmas cards or other holidays. heck, this would be cute just to have out year round. However, when I think of a mousetrap frame it seems most fitting for Halloween.
While the paint is drying on your frame Take off the metal rectangle thing with some wire snips I also pulled out the top piece so that it wasn’t in the way of my printable’s.
After the metal hardware is off the mousetrap it’s safe to use. I sprayed mine black but again if you are using this year round you might want to go with a pop of color, or gold, or just leave them to make it more creepy. My gallery wall was black and white this year so I opted to go with black.
Hot glue the mousetraps to the frame in even intervals. you could use E 6,000 but hot glue dries instantly and I’m always in a hurry to get things done. LOL If you want to use stickers to number the mousetraps then do it! I love the look of the numbers It makes it kinda modern and vintage at the same time.
Now all you have to do is add your printables to your mousetrap frame, I have some cute Printables HERE if you need ideas. I also think doing this on a long piece of wood or shiplap would be darling above a couch or bench. You could even do it vertically if you needed a tall skinny space to fill up your gallery wall.
