I’m not sure I even want to post this. I have had parties rained out before but never blown away before!!! Saturday was a disaster. I had the most darling banners and vintage posters to hang at the ProPay party. I had drapes swagged and striped just like the inside a tent I had white table cloths and red runners down the middle with harlequin diamond patterned paper under the darling barrel centerpieces, with vintage animals all gussied up with gold rickrack. I was so excited to hang my bunting and arrow posters……
I had to run to my other job (singing performance at stars) so I sent Bry over the park to start setting up. I know it would be a little windy so I bought lots of duck tape to secure every thing down. How ever when I got to the park and there was nothing set up my heart sank!!! Every time Bry staple gunned and then duck taped over the drapes they would rip and tear and blow across the park while my kids chased them down. He had one banner up and it was shredded to pieces the center pieces wouldn’t even stay on the table for two min, before they went rolling on there way out of the pavilion (obviously wanting to play games!!)
the treats were a hit with the little kiddies at the park they all got these darling yellow bags with a vintage sticker and tickets ready to be filled with treats and prizes!
I went into my car and cried for a min then just threw up my hands and said o-well who needs to see all my cute vintage posters and banners that took me and a close friend over 20 hours to do???? I’m sure all the Guys at ProPay just wanted to eat the fabulous dinner catered my one of my favorite caters (the bashful butler) and the kids just wanted to jump in the bouncy thing and play carnival games and eat snow cones even though it was freezing with the wind chill I’m thinking it was like 50 degrees!!!
And the face painter was darling and did a fabulous job!!! The balloon animals a hit… all in all, I’m convinced that a party should and always be about the people the getting together the conversation and fun. The decorations help to set the stage and don’t get me wrong I think they are one of the most important part of an event but its not the MOST important. its the people you are throwing the party for that matter and in the end isn’t that why you are throwing a party to begin with?
