I have been wanting to make this for weeks! My crazy busy days get in the way of me having fun in my craft room. Me and my cute designer friend (hi Ash) came up with this idea right after valentines and the poor girl waited weeks to get her LUCKY letters from me. Here they are for you and the directions to this darling easy font door welcome wreath.
First I dyed my coffee filters the color I wanted. I used plain old craft paint mixed with water and dipped in a stack of about 10 to soak up the color. I thought the kiwi color a bit bright so I dipped some bluish green ones that i had left over from another project and they were just what it needed to get that multi colored look. Its really hard to see in the finished shamrock but there are a few puffs spray painted gold, just to add a bit of glamor.
Then I needed to make the letters that would be strung on the front of the shamrock. I have the downloadable at the end of the post. I just printed it out on card stock and covered the entire letter in glue. While the glue was still wet I sprinkled it with glitter (three colors to be exact)
After I glitter the letters and before I cut them out I covered them in one more light layer of glue. I only do this if the banner is going to be outside in weather or I’m going to be using it for a lot of diffrent things. It keeps the glitter from flaking off.
Last night I spent an hour and a half catching up on my t.v. watching while I was making the coffee filter flowers.
Then today I hot glued them to the base that I cut out from foam core.
I used Heidi Swapp’s color shine spray to turn some gold sheer ribbon into a beautiful variegated green and gold ribbon.
Using hot glue I scrunched the ribbon around the edge to finish off the edges.
Here is the printable of the glittered letters just copy and past the link into your browser and it will take you to the download. I’m so Lucky!!!
