Apothecary jar make overs. That’s what I’m going to call this studio 5 project. Cute Mindy wanted me to find a fun take on DIY jars. Ok with that being said I was still a little hesitant about doing this segment because face it I love my clear glass jars I have 10 all shapes and sizes and I’m not counting the 9 cloche’s that are also stashed around my house.
So I sat down and thought what would be my perfect Apothecary. Jar??? I have always wanted little tiny jars for little tiny stuff. So off I went to my fridge to look for little jars of artichokes and cherries. I also wanted them to look different than the traditional glass ones. So I got out my paint, glue, ribbon, and printer.
Here are the final projects.
The first little jars are going on my sons desk against a black chalkboard wall, so I needed a bright color to set them off and make them pop! I love the littleness of the jars, again for little stuff. First you have to spray paint the color you want on the lids, candle sticks, chair legs, and wooden balls. (cause that’s what i had in the house) I absolutely love the toppers, or handles if you like. I used a sprinkler head, Scrabble tiles, and a plastic cow. I glued them all on with E6000. after the toppers are done and the bases are glued with that same magic glue. your done. now comes the fun part, making them personal.
I painted white dots on the big jam jar.(Using a template out of vinyl) a racing stripe on the little jar and just left the round cow jar plain. I added tags so that my little guy would know what to put in the jar, done. So cute and almost free!
Next I wanted to use mason jars cause hey we all have a mason jar or 50 laying around. I wanted to glam it up a bit so I used some of my silver leafing to leaf the jars the bases and the lids. I loved how it turned out!!! you just dab the glue where ever you want the leafing to sick, as I got further up the jar I used less and less glue. Add a little rhinestone trim and a glass draw pull and you are done. Mason jars free, 2$ for both candle sticks, glass knobs 2$ each at hobby lobby. I could so see little girls hair bows in these, but don’t have girls so they may have to hold my chalk in my office.
I also needed something cute in my living room nothing to tall or bulbous like some apothecary jars can be. I found these silver candle sicks at hobby lobby 8$ 12$ each but were on sale half off YEA! I also got the jars there, they were 6$ but again half off Yea!!! they looked so good together I didn’t want to paint or mess with them in any way. So I added window clings with cute spring sayings. How delightful would it be to have personalized messages for a party or shower, just saying. You can find my free printable at the end of this very long post.
