Oh i know its painful to look at. I’m not a big fan of the primary colors! but I knew that i was going to make the cutest center piece for a carnival so I ripped all the paper off it and got started with my creation.
The colors for the party were hot pink and orange so naturally i chose pink to make this darling ombre number one. I died coffee filters which is so easy. You take 3 cups water and squirt in your acrylic paint till you get the color you want. then take 10 filters and dip into the water/paint solution to soak up all the color, and let dry over night. To get the ombre look I kept adding white after each 80 or so coffee filters, and when they dried I just stacked them darkest to lightest and started gluing!
Glue and glue and glue…. you might go through 10 long glue sticks but hey its so worth the outcome! I did cut my filters in half because i wanted a tight look. and I wanted to keep the details of the number. It did take a long time to do this but I need to catch up on my DVR watching and it was well worth all the movies I got to watch.
It looks almost as pretty as the peonies that are sitting behind it in a sand pail!! Oh it was one of my favorite things I designed for this party. I’ll post the party in all its glory. It was a beautiful baby’s birthday if I don’t say so myself.
