Oh how I love ribbon and coffee filter flowers and crafting for hours after Ive worked all day. Its so relaxing to sit and make pretty things. Just look at this beautiful ribbon I bought at Tie Pan for Kimmies Wedding. Her colors are gray and yellow with a little turquoise sprinkled in.
I’m showing you how to make these cute coffee filter flowers they are so easy and cheep!
First you need to mix your paint to dip the filters in. I put about a forth of a bottle of craft paint to 2 cups of water. Grab about 10 filters at time and let them soak up the paint. I let mine dry by the heater vent on the floor (on a cookie sheet) all day and all night. The next day I separate the filters to let them dry even more. It’s so much easier in the summer. Just pop them outside on the picnic table.
After they are dried I just grab one and squish it to look like a flower.
grab a contrasting color and put the middle one inside and squish, totally easy here guys.
then another and another until you have as many layers as you want. Ive made them with 10 down to four layers. It just depends on the look you are going for.
after you have all your layers you need to staple them all together. don’t miss the middle ones, or you will be gluing them together later.
and there you go. I put three of these beauty’s together and add ribbon to the middle. I then will hang them from wreaths that will be hanging from the ceiling. I can’t wait to see what they look like. I want there to be a subtle tropical feel and yet feel like a wedding celebration. The groom is from Hawaii. 🙂
