Ikea hack #4 neighbor gifts. Decorative trays
This “Ikea hack” (Sumula tray 2$) has made an appearance at two weddings and a few parties I’ve done. I have made it in all sorts of colors. It is the fastest way to get a matching tray for any party!
All you have to do is spray paint the back of the tray. skill level beginner ok kindergarten if your being technical.
Of course I wanted to up the ante and make them a bit cuter for Christmas.
skill level well a bit more difficult but not impossible.
Step 1 print vinyl or stencil and adhere to the back of the tray, then spray paint. Be sure to mask all the other parts of the tray to prevent over spray. you must invert the phrase anytime you will be reading it from the other side… Remember my plate tutorial? LOL
Step 2 this one is very important!!! see where the white paint at the top of the tray is chipped? This is because I waited too long to peel off the stencil. so wait just a few min then peel when its still a bit wet
Step 3 then after it is dry, spray the whole thing white and your good to go!!! I do like to spray the back with polly to make it a little more durable. how cute is this tray for cookies at the Christmas eve party or hey tie it with a bow and use as decoration in your kitchen!
