Inexpensive ways to spruce up your front porch for spring
I love seeing a cute front porch in the neighborhood, it makes the street feel young and alive. Spring is such a fun time to add color to the front porch, because after a long winter aren’t we all ready to add color and be happy! I’m going to show you a few ways you can spruce up your porch for spring using what you have or updating a few oldies but goodies.

WREATHS
- Wreaths, this is at the top of the list because most people have them, they are easy to switch out and easy to update! I have a square boxwood wreath that I use for most of the year, its supper plain but I just switch up the ribbon on the top and I can change it up for any season. I put the ribbons in a box in my coat closet right by the front door so that its an easy fix when the holiday is over. I also have a friend who does this as well (Heather) she adds a bit more to hers, fun holiday decor or their monogram. If you want easy and no crafting than this is the option for you. Now if you want to go crazy I have a few cute ideas for you to try.
I love my hexagon frame that my hubby made for me, don’t worry if you don’t have a handy hubby you can find them at Amazon HERE or you could use Targets cute hexagon trays HERE I just hung mine with ribbon and duck taped some extra picks and a bird nest to the bottom. Nobody will have this cute new take on a wreath, well unless you live on my street then we can be twins! ( I will have a complete tutoral up next week on how to make this wreath) 
The last wreath that I made over for spring was an old white berry wreath, I started pulling out one side of the picks so that i could rewire them the other way. I wanted a horse shoe look. It was supper easy to pull it apart and pretty easy to rewire it back on in the opposite direction. I love the fresh look I got from this 5 year old wreath! I added some darling ribbon and even clipped on a little bird, and now it has a whole new look. 
FLOWERS - The next thing to brighten up your porch before you can buy flowers is…. faux flowers? I know I know I’m not a big fan of faux flowers especially outside! (its just weird) but go with me on this one. I have two very large concrete containers that I leave up year round because they are too large to move. They look so ugly sitting there empty waiting for flowers to brighten my porch. Pop some little faux flowers from Ikea or Target and add a few real ones to the mix as well, Hardy ones that will not die if a cold snap comes along and here in Utah I know I’m not safe till its mothers day! You don’t need a lot just a few to soften the edges of the pot…. or you can just disguise it for a few weeks with a little table or plant stand.
I got this plant stand at Ikea a few years ago and use it indoors as an extra side table when we have parties. I brought it outside and set it in front of the offending pot and then add my little plants and faux flowers on top. 
LANTERNS - Lanterns I loved having my lanterns outside this Christmas, It was the first time I have tried this. The wonderful thing was it was too cold for the candles to melt. Ha Ha but I’m thinking that spring should be cool enough for this to work. If your area gets too hot just substituted some cute little plastic bird eggs in them. I added ribbons to the tops to add the color and used a few that already were a bright color. Spring is all about bringing color to a very blah yard.
INSIDE ELEMENTS - Bring the indoors outdoors. We often here about bring the outdoors in but what if you shopped your house and looked for little wood boxes or urns, little colorful tins, crates or crocks and use them for a few weeks to brighten up the entry. Don’t be afraid of it getting dirty you can always wash it, sometimes you need to sacrifice for a cute door.
WOOD WORDS - I love Heidi Swaps wood words. I have a few and I took this one off my gallery wall so that I could use it on my front porch. I have tied these words to my wreaths with ribbon but I happened to see a cute Pintrest post that had it nailed to her wall. I didn’t want to nail anything to my old house (it just might fall apart) so I used a 3M hook. Its been holding for a week now with no problems and I hope it will last a few more weeks. If any of you know anything stronger please just let me know, wood signs are pretty light and it seems to stick to the stucco just fine. (my fingers are crossed)
GATES - The last thing I did was to take an old gate I had in the back yard and spray paint it blue, then propped it up in the corner of the front porch. I know its a little over the top but its only for a few weeks and I having some color on the porch. You could use a vine trellis, that would give you a similar feel. I’m going to paint my door soon so I just testing the waters with this color! Which leads me to my last point your front door, why do we all have such boring plain black white or brown doors? I think that a pop of color on your front door is the cutest way to spruce up your front porch. I can’t wait to do mine, I’m just dragging my feet finding a color to go with the house.
