I think I was born with some of my grandma Rippon’s entertaining genes in my blood. I have to say that I truly love setting a beautiful table I have a darling modern Thanksgiving table setting I’m working on now, I’m hoping I can use some of these darling pieces for Thanksgiving, but for now it’s our Sunday dinner fall table setting. Let’s get started and show you what I used and how I used it in a fresh way.
This modern fall Thanksgiving table setting is absolutely gorgeous! I wasn’t using traditional fall colors so I had to go around my house and kitchen and gather everything in my house that was gold, Wood, and white and blush, then I piled it up on the table and started playing around with my modern color palette.
I love the gold sparkle pumpkin tea lights I think those added just a little bit of glamour to the table. I also am in love with the dipped votive holders although I used them as little vases for my flowers. And these little inividusal salt and pepper shakers are so cute. Kate Aspen has the sweetest things for weddings and tables and it’s very inexpensive.
I love the gold lacy placemats from Ikea with my grandma’s china. (the placemats didn’t come gold I had to spray paint them, an easy fix). I added some pink ruffle paper plates for the salad plates, My darling friends from Sophistaplates sent me these and I loved mixing China with paper it might seem a little strange but it turns out beautifully and then you’ll have half the dishes to wash after dinner. LOL. I think the pink added so much softness don’t you think they really are the most sophisticated paper plates ever? I’ve used these paper plates for Labor Day, birthdays, showers and now Thanksgiving, I’m super excited to incorporate them in our day of Thanksgiving but more excited about just being able to toss them after we’re done.
Another fun thing that I love about this place setting is taking this little tiny individual cheeseboard and turning it into a coaster. I love the pumpkin shape and now each glass has a cute little pumpkin coaster/cheeseboard coaster, it makes a cute takeaway gift as well when your Thanksgiving dinner is done. Those cute mini cheese plates are also from Kate Aspen.
I did this centerpiece last year and I was so excited to get it out again. I took one of the funkins from Michael’s and filled it up with 4 bags of dried beans then placed in branches and natural looking elements. I added in a few blush roses just to add a pop of that blush color to the table. I also ran a garland of pumpkins that i got from a craft store years ago, and just intermixed that a with a whole bunch of little candles and sparkly goodness. I think it makes it Modern and beautiful when you take what you have and add an unexpected color in the mix.
I’m all about creating an experience and a feeling when people come into my home and if I can add a bit of extra decor for the occasion to make it feel more special I will. I’m not talking about elaborate table settings or over the top party decorations, (ok I like to do that too) but just small simple little things like individual salt and pepper shakers can make someone feel loved and thought about. Using what you have aka the striped pumpkins from Target I got last year, The vintage tea towels for napkins, pinecones from the front door can make a spectacular table without spending a dime. By adding a touch of glamor with the paper plates and personalized name cards you can create something magical.
Yes, I’m all about the food but having a beautiful table to present my food is equally as fun for me. I hope you can incorporate just one special detail on your Sunday table, and definitely your modern Thanksgiving table setting, It sure does make my family feel loved and if you can’t use your beautiful treasures for the most important people in your life then your missing out about what this life is all about, making your family feel loved and special with the little details that you have in their lives.
