I’m so excited to be welcoming my first grand-baby this Feb. I couldn’t wait to give my daughter-in-law a cute little baby shower for my side of the family and my close friends who are like family to me. Since it was winter I loved going with the theme of Baby its Cold Outside, come in and get cozy. I wanted cozy foods and lots of Hot Chocolate. It was so easy to pull together a cute shower with a few printable’s and a trip to Costco. I love things that look hard but in the end are simple to pull together and still bring a festive air to the gathering.
I started with the printable’s for the baby shower. This is the by far the easiest way to create a theme and keep it running throughout the shower. I collected all my frames and small party plaques in one place and then printed signs that would fit inside. I found some darling saying from Caravan shoppe and the rest from a google internet search. I did make one of the printable’s myself I might have to add it to this post if you are interested.
Some of my larger frames from IKEA needed to be modified so that the printable looked cute inside. I added strips of ribbon to the paper that came with the frame and then taped the printable on top of that. Not only did I get the theme across for the baby shower but it gave me the opportunity to add color to the printables. I love mixing frames of color size and material, and as long as all the printable’s are cohesive it works to give a relaxed feel to the party.
The Next thing I like to do is add a banner to the buffet table. I have a giant island in the middle of my kitchen I like to server off of, but it doesn’t lend itself to a cute party backdrop so I spray painted some bottles gold and filled them up with rice and stick in long dowels. Then when I want a cute banner I just tie the banner to the sticks and ta-da a cute banner in the middle of the table! After doing this I decided to scrap the table banner and just hang my Gold glittered “my minds eye banner“, on the mantel. LOL I decided I needed a bit of sparkle in that room.
When it comes to food I love to have lots of choices. I’m not a cater or have a million hours to do things I tend to use Costco as my backup plan. I went to the secret treat section over by the bread and found lots of goodies for my hot chocolate bar! I usually get four yummy sweet things like the min cinnamon rolls mandolins, the elephant ears, and brownie bits or what ever they have, then if people ask to help i I let them bring cheese balls, veggie trays or fruit.
I also like to use my letter boards. I have a few of them and am always changing them out with each season party or shower. Its a great investment because it constantly in use. Letter boards are such a fun personal way to amp up the party.
To say thank you I made these cute little thank you boxes. I used the these cute little clear boxes from Clearbags.com, they have lots of sizes to chose from. I filled mine with a bit of festooning and Hershey kisses. By the way you can get lots of different colors of Hershey’s kisses on Amazon, I did not no that, so your welcome! For the tag I just printed out a snowflake and punched it out with a circle punch and tied it on. done and done
