I was cleaning out my storage room where I keep all my decor for holidays and I started throwing everything away. I was in one of those moods, and everything was looking old, dated and shabby, I am an organizer by day you know! lol Well wouldn’t you know it I came across some darling paper-mache mushrooms I made a few years ago. You can find the tutorial here. I knew that I had to use these for my Easter table setting. I got them out of the mason jars they were in and reconfigured them into a more modern approach for my spring table settings. I’m loving how they look now.
I used the Hester and cook placemats and table cards and took my inspiration from there. I pulled green red and light blue from the placemats and created a spring-like table that could pose for a child’s fairy party, a spring bridal lunch, an Easter dinner…. you get the point it’s kinda sophisticated and playful at the same time. I used plates from sophistaplates in green pink and blue and used their cute taupe gingham napkins tied with a red polka-dot ribbon. I used Sophistaplates new disposable silverware in pink for my spring place setting. Don’t tell but I have rewashed them a few times they are too cute to just throw away!
I added my darling paper mache mushrooms that I glued to a mound of moss from the dollar store, and then used my wood place card holders for the table cards. Its a very different spring place setting table idea for those of you who don’t like pastel colors. I think on Easter I will mix my china in as the main plate and use the paper for the extra salads rolls and desserts, then I only have to do half of the usual dishes for our fancy meal. LOL
This option used my cute paper tulip flower favors post how to make them HERE. I loved this look because I could use all my miss matched chargers as long as they were pastel! I loved how it all came together! Again the paper placemats are from Hester and Cook they remind me of ice cream! This look is a little more fun and sweet, and it just screams Easter right? Every person will get a different color of a salad plate, I just couldn’t choose so I mixed and matched all the pretty pearly plates! I added a small flower on each plate and my cute paper flower tulips with the chocolate secret surprise inside. I think I like this spring table setting best, maybe its becasue there is so much pink! My poor boys are always surounded with pink.
I also love to use real flowers but I do have some pretty lifelike ones in my stash. So I put a few in a white pitcher and just set that in the middle of the table. But I think a Trader Joes run will be in order before Easter, I just love all their beautiful flowers and the price is even better. I think a spring place setting deserves real flowers.
I used a chicken feeder spray painted gold for the base of my paper tulip favors to sit in. I love that its long and takes up very little space seeing that its only 3 inches wide. I filled in the gaps with a little moss from the dollar store and that was it. super simple and yet it feels like I spent a ton of time putting it together, but we all know better than to do that!
All those pastel colors in this spring table setting are making me hungry for jelly beans, or maybe the chocolate I stashed in the paper flower favors. I hope they last till Easter?
