Do you need to spring clean your cleaning supplies?
Make sure you have a good hand duster. Dusters made of ostrich feathers naturally trap particulates in their weaves. My mom swears by hers, but if your like me make sure you are stocked up on your Swiffer dusters I go through at least 3 when I’m deep cleaning. Here are some areas I clean window sills, on top of decor shelves, top of kitchen cabinets and all light fixtures. I’m shocked how much dust is in my house and by cleaning up top first it will fall to the floor where you then can vacuum it up.
Buy organic or natural cleaning supplies. You don’t need a whole closet full of things just find one good multi purpose cleaner, a window cleaner and and some scouring powder. OK that seems a bit minimal I do like a few more than that but if your space is small you certainly don’t need more.
Get a good mop (probably time to buy a new one). Microfiber mops are ideal and can be re-used. Look for mop heads that can be thrown in the laundry when done. I love this one from the container store I’ve had mine for three years and it does a great job!
Buy new sponges! Using old ones just spreads germs and bad odors. I also switched out my sponges recently to the walnut sponges from grove because they are so much better for the environment (need to offset my Swifter addiction) they clean great and they were free with my quarterly purchase of my cleaning supplies.
Clean your vacuum. Yes, cleaning out your vacuum can help clear air flow and remove dust/bacteria particles from the previous use. Do you remember that episode of friends when Monica was using a Dustbuster to clean her bigger vacuum. Well there is a method to her madness. Deep cleaning your vacuum just makes sense for keeping your house dust free. I take out my filter wash it and make sure there is no stuck on dirt inside my canister.
Those are just a few basic things I do to kick start my spring cleaning and organizing. I hope this will inspire your to get out the duster throw open the windows and let all that fresh air into your clean home.
