I know I know there are some of you out there who hate the word Laundry! I don’t know who you are but its probably because you don’t have a cute laundry room. Heck your laundry might even be in your dark unfinished basement. But gals it doesn’t have to be a chore doing laundry. I personally love doing laundry there is something rewarding smelling all those clean towels and fresh lacrosse jerseys that make me happy. I recently did a small laundry room makeover that was right in my very small budget and I thought you might like some fun budget saving tips on creating a laundry room makeover for your self.
I loved my laundry room stencil i did 5 years ago when we moved in. It was bright and fun and made doing laundry a pleasure. However I never knew how to finish the edges of the stencil and it drove me crazy that it wasn’t ever finished. I decided to wall paper just this one strangely shaped wall but had a heartache when i saw that the wall paper i wanted would be over 380$ for that little wall. So I went to the garage and got out a gallon of paint I had just purchased for my front door and painted over that fun yet unfinished wall Cost 30$
I had left over peel and stick subway tiles from doing a temporary backslash in my kitchen so this little wall was free to me. If you want to try this a roll of peel and stick is around 30$ its from Target. I love that it immediately looked so high end for just a few dollars and 45 minutes. I have proof on my insta stories LOL it was supper fast and easy to put up. might invest in one more roll to cover the other wall. Cost 30$ (I also used peel and stick to make a marble desk HERE)
Its my inner OC in me that wants to label everything even if you know what it is! this mini laundry room makeover was no different. I’m pretty lucky I do have some very talented friends! My darling friend who loves labels as much as I do has created the sweetest laundry room makeover set of labels you have ever seen. You can get the laundry room labels from Amazon. Seriously she had them for every room in your house and they are 14.99 !!! what the heck?!?! she is amazing. just look at these cute farmhouse styled ones. I’m in love. Cost 14$
If you are more of a crafty chick then try making your own labels. I was dying to try to make some gold labels with my silhouette. I loved loved loved the modern shinny look of my graphic labels. Before I painted my wall I was going to make the labels in hot pink to match my laundry room. That’s the beauty of creating your own set of labels on your silhouette, the vinyl can be any color you can dream of and say anything you want! So whether you call it laundry soap, detergent, or cleaning powder (my grandmother) you can make your perfect labels for your mini laundry room makeover. Cost 10$
Why we are talking about labels I’m dying how darling these cute little labels are for you washer and dryer. I mean at 3 am when your washing the last set of sheets you have because your kid has the flu you might refer to these stickers. LOL or they can be a cute addition just because they make you happy! you can find Mel’s adorable vinyl stickers on her Etsy shop. HERE Cost 12.99$
This little tip was taught to me by my cute designer friend Ashley. Lighting is like jewelry it finishes the room. I love having fun unique lighting in every room, it just makes a statement, and can change the feeling of a room. I couldn’t decide to go with gold or white. I put a vote to you guys on my Instagram and you chose the gold. I think the gold is so pretty with my navy wall. It took my laundry room makeover in a different direction from farmhouse to a bit more modern glam. I got both light at IKEA for 40$ each!!! The best money spent on this room i think! Cost 40$
Really art work in your laundry room? Yes, my sister rolled her eyes when I handed her a printout I made last year (find it here) to pin to her unfinished basement wall. Yes sweet sister decorate your laundry room. Even when my laundry room was a closet I hung my kids art work up on a few clipboard propped up on the shelf above the washer. I loved those cute little drawings reminding me why I’m doing 1000 loads of laundry a day. This piece of art is an origanal and cost a ton of money but i saved and saved so that I could purchase it. It reminded me of seeing my grandmas laundry on her line in the summer when I was a kid. I know I’m the only one to see this on the daily but it makes me soooooo happy!
If you don’t want to shell out good money for your laundry room art, just down load something darling. I loved making these with my minc and a free printable. Any time you can make your surrounding more attractive the less you will hate to open those closet doors or go into the dark damp basement. Make your Laundry room makeover fun by adding art work! (if you use a printable like mine here) Cost free$ IKEA frames Cost 10$
I love love love cute containers, and boy do I have some cute ones. I love using these darling jars from the Container store you can get them in a few sizes to fit what you need and the labels stick so easily to the glass.
I also used this cute little bathroom jar from MDesign to put my spare change in. These cute little jars would be great to put a sewing kit in to fix buttons, or clothes pins or binder clips if you clip socks together before they go into the wash. And don’t get me started on vintage finds. Even though this is a laundry room makeover doesn’t mean you have to buy new things. Look around and see what fun trays, buckets, and jars you already have and use those. Sometimes just moving things around makes a huge difference. Contaniner store jars 15$ Mdesign jars 2 for 19$ vintage Free Cost free-40$
You don’t have to spend more than 100$ to make a huge difference in your space, even a few changes can make a huge inpact on how you feel about your laundry space. If you have any questions about how to organize your laundry let me know. or send me your makeover photos on Instagram so I can show you off.
