Mini Makeover starting with the vanity light.

When we moved into our house nine years ago, we started ripping out walls floors and doing lots large renovations. But then time ran out money ran out and we had to stop fixing and move in. Our little guest bathroom has gotten lots of use over the last nine years and has waited long enough! I’m excited to start on this mini makeover guest bathroom using inexpensive products like my new vanity light to make a big impact.

We started by asking ourselves what we wanted to change for this makeover guest bathroom. The lighting!!! The one we had was pretty, but times change, my style has changed and it was time to look for the right light. I found the cutest lighting company LNC HOME while I was scrolling instagram and fell in love. They have a fun farmhouse feel and also a modern line that was just what I was looking for.

What to look for in a vanity light.

1. You need to fist think of scale and how much room you have on either side of your lighting box. I wanted all the huge lights, heck just give me a spot light, I kept looking at options that were way to big. So know your size and stick to it.
2. Second you need to look at the finish. I knew I wanted a gold finish which meant I needed to change out my silver mirror. So think of other things that will impact the cost in your makeover, when choosing a finish.
3. Think about how many bulbs are in that light. I have a chandelier that has one big bulb, and let me tell you its not enough light!! not even close so think about how much light you will get with the bulbs that come with the light.
4. last think of the style of the room you may love the farmhouse look but the rest of the house is midcentury modern it just might not work. So try to design a makeover guest bathroom that blends with your house already.

This vanity light I chose and then changed my mind at the last minute. can you even stand how cute this is? However i went with a more traditional one you see below, and I loved how it looked! Once I had this beauty in my possession I had to figure out how to install it in the dark. My guest bathroom has no windows and very little light. I grabbed a hanging garage light and lantern and set out changing the light.

It’s not super hard to change a vanity light out, however its kinda scary because hello there is electricity. I’ve changed lots of lights out in my time so I thought I could handle this one. LNC HOME did not disappoint, it was just as easy as I remembered. Black wire to Black and white wire to white and then a grounding wire. Um guys it’s that easy on the back end, just getting enough hands to hold and fix at the same time is the trick part.

See how pretty this vanity light is? Yes I changed out the mirror, it was time for that one to go and remember tip number 2? a super easy one hr. project that changed the look of the whole room! Ok the paint and board and batten helped. But the light is the jewelry of a room don’t ya think?
