I’ve been wanting to redo my office gallery wall for about three years now! (see the photo below) It always seem to hit the bottom most of my to do list. Then as I was looking through Instagram I saw the poster store. Their posters were extremely relevant and right up my alley. I knew I wanted Posters to reflect my style and remind me of my boys and where they have lived or are living now, the poster store was the perfect solution.
Step 1
Get specific on your theme and colors
It seems like every Tuesday they had more prints to choose from in their store. I think the hardest part of this mini makeover I was trying to choose from a hundred perfect prints. The Poster Store has a large selection of themes to get you started. And lots of unique prints that everybody wont have. You know I love to be different and unique. I have a very eclectic style!!
Once I decided on a color theme of the location prints that reminded me of my boys and places they’ve been. I ordered five posters in different sizes.
How to know how many prints to start with
The key to a good gallery wall is making sure you have the right size of frames and the measurements of the wall for your gallery. Your wall can be little or large but you need to know how many feet your are working with. Measure the area of the wall to get the width and the height of your wall. As you are choosing your posters make sure you keep in mind how big your wall is. At the Poster store you will pick the size of your print and frame (which comes from responsible managed forests always a good thing), And you can see the dimensions of the final framed product. Make sure you get vertical and horizontal prints if you want an eclectic look, or if you want them all the same size make sure you take into consideration the space you will need between your prints, usually 3-6 inches.
Step 2
Hanging your Gallery wall
This is not as hard as it seems. The first step will be to lay it out on the floor in front of the wall. You are trying to make a pleasing arrangement and it might take a few days to figure this part out. If you feel like you need more photos on your wall shop your home to see what you can add. You can even add things like shelves, kids art work and wreaths. Anything that makes you happy is fair game. But for this gallery wall makeover I just wanted posters.
What to use to hang your posters
In my office I have a faux brick wall and just used nails. it was easy to putty and touch up if I made a mistake. If you are renting you might want to use 3M Velcro, its supper easy to use and it doesn’t damage the walls, Perfect for a dorm room or if your renting.
Ready to hang
You have your layout and now your ready to hang all your fabulous posters. You are going to want to start with the middle print, usually it is the largest of the group. After the first one is hung you can work your way out doing a few on one side and then move to the other side to keep things looking even and pleasing to the eye.
Step 3
After all the prints are hung you just might have the most beautiful gallery wall ever. However sometimes you just did not order enough or have enough filler photos of your own to finish your project. That the joy of decorating your space there is always time to grow and add to gallery walls as you continue to travel, make more memories, or just plan get a few more bucks to order a few more prints.
