If you are here from Missy’s blog Sonatahomedesing.com welcome! Isn’t she just the sweetest thing? love all her ideas for your porch! I want that swing!
I’m shocked when people say they like just a touch of Christmas to their homes. I’m kinda an all or nothing kind of girl. But, there are other holidays that just need a tinny bit of décor to add a festive feel to your home. Fourth of July décor is one of those holidays, you don’t have to do much to make it festive! Let me show you a few tricks to make a splash without costing a fortune.
I love the look of little pointed stars. These cute wood stars are easy to cut out with a jig saw or purchased from a boutique like 12timbers.com I love the red ones because they just scream 4th of July decor in my neutral colored home. just a little pop on a table in a shelf or even outside can make a happy difference.
Its pretty easy to get a fun summer look with just the red white and blue dishes you already have. And if you don’t have those colors then purchase a pack of paper plates in the color you need!
its a fun and easy way to celebrate the holiday without going over the top. My table place mats, runner and napkins are from Solinohome you can get them on amazon. Love the blue and white. More fun summer table settings HERE
I love using these little flags in all my vases and flowers that are already up in my home. I have them on my porch, on my mantle and in every flower container I can find. This is an easy and inexpensive way to bring just a touch of americana 4th of July décor to your rooms. find these small flags on Amazon.
If you like the look of a large draping flag remember its NOT respectful to use a real flag in your home décor. For me having flag décor evokes a love of my country but some in the military see it as disrespecting the flag. Think how they treat the flag with white gloves, they fold it a special way and it never touches the ground. So in respect to our American flag make sure your décor uses flag banners like mine. They look like the flag but are not the same shape.
This large sign is going over my stove I can’t wait to put it there this year. it brings a pop of red to my kitchen for a week or two.
I also love this little sign I just popped up onto my mantel. I didn’t even need to take down any of my regular décor, just putting a smaller sign In front of your décor can add some happy color to your home. To tie in the red wite and blue i just add a star and more little flags. how easy is that?
if you want to see how much my style has changed here’s a look to a center piece I did for a bar-b-q in 2012 be kind and don’t laugh too hard. LOL Centerpiece decor
