I absolutely loved pink growing up, my room was pink I wore pink, I had pink office supplies and nail polish. Then there came a day when I did not like pink anymore. Oh don’t get me wrong I still liked pink I was just not obsessed with it anymore.
I feel like in life the colors that we are suppose to pick as little girls or holiday colors for that matter should be very individual. So my Christmas tree this year was blue and yellow and now my Valentines decor is red and aqua, With that said I’m all for decorations, and lots of them but why do they have to be traditional?
I took the trendy chalkboard fad and ran with it this year. I loved how the black and white looked with my white decor. Then when i added a little red or turquoise it just popped!
these cute little hearts are made with scrapbook paper on one side and chalkboard contact paper on the other side. (I will have a tutorial this week on how to make these) the one hanging on the door is our service heart. the boys get to help one another and then write what they did for that person and hang it on their door. (We will see if it works) wink wink
ok the easiest thing I did was to replace a Christmas printable with a valentine printable. this little cutie is found on caravanshop.com they have such cute chalkboard art!!! I did try my hand at a few chalkboard printables so here is my download.
download Love we are so in it! |
this little box was painted up with left over chalkboard paint from Tay’s room. Its a box that came with my Costco greeting cards. I added little handles on the sides and Tay is going to use it for his Valentin’s box this year. It will be fun to see what messages come home on the box from his class. 🙂
Another fun thing I did was to use the chalkboard contact paper on my windowpane. I liked the idea of not using the paint because I wanted to use the window again. so I just trimmed out squares that I stuck to every other pane, added a bow and done!
last but not least I made cute cards to give to Nana and Grandma. We wrote out a saying in chalk and then took the boys photos in front of the wall. Now I must say that this wall is all chalkboard and is the latest addition to Tay’s room, which is almost finished and when this blasted room is done I’ll be sure to post the before and afters!!
Let’s just CHALK this up to another great Valentines day this year!
