Backyard Garden Wedding

I’m such a nature lover, I helped with a backyard garden wedding last year and I loved every sweaty beautiful min.  It was the hottest day on record for the day we got married in June a million years ago. LOL, Who can foresee these things? Last summer I helped my dear high school friend with her daughter’s backyard garden wedding in their very beautiful backyard on one of the hottest days of the year. haha, but what a fantastic event it was.  I wanted to post it last year with the professional photos but never was able to get them from the photographer then forgot about this darling wedding until now because I’m working on another summer wedding.   Here are the humble phots I was looking at. It brought back so many memories of the flowers and trees at my wedding so many years ago.

Backyard garden weddings can be such a beautiful option for your reception, but don’t make the mistake that it is a cheaper option.  If you want absolutely no worries you are going to have to rent tents chairs tables, catering and do all the decorating yourself or hire me! Ha Ha, Sometimes it’s just worth all the effort to make this happen because it is truly magical to come home for visits and remember the best day of your life, and know that it happened right in your own backyard.

I love making a designated entry to the party especially at a backyard garden wedding, whether it’s a photo of the bride, a sign that welcomes the guest or just lanterns leading the way to the door it’s so nice to see a beautiful welcome and a peek at what’s to come.  We were greeted with a huge tent that had the brides’ generation table.  A table that had all the wedding photos of all the brides as far back as they could find them.  What fun it was to look at all the fun styles and resemblances of each bride.

As we turned the corner in this backyard garden wedding we came upon the flower girls, looking like little fairies.  There were so many little cousins in this family (they had 13 little girls) and of course they all wanted to be the flower girls.  So a handy brother in the family made the pallet picnic spots just for them, and yes we did copy that idea from Pinterest,  I was a hit and was always in use by these little darlings, and the little boys who would sneak over once in a while.

Sometimes its hard to find a spot in a backyard garden wedding for the cake, you don’t want it to melt.  The cake was placed perfectly on the way to the second tent so that everyone could see how beautiful it was as they passed by under the shade of the trees. We hung an empty photo frame with a ribbon banner and paper lanterns in the trees to create a little dreamy corner of this beautiful garden.  A chocolate wedding cake is my favorite but this naked cake was stunning.  Too bad we had to leave before it was cut, and we could taste it! 

There were flowers everywhere in this backyard garden wedding I wish I had a video of every inch, they were so vibrant and colorful its hard to capture their beauty.   The entire arch was covered in flowers from Fox and Fern, the pool was lined in little flower arrangements they were on stairs and all the tables, gosh it was a sight to behold.  

When the mother of the bride asked me to create a backdrop for the dance floor with large crepe paper flowers I was so excited.  I could spend hours making those giant beauties (which I did)  and they turned out just stunning,  They blended in perfectly with the real things because I added in live greens and kept to her color scheme. If you want more on how to make these beauties check out the post I did on (How to make giant crepe paper flowers).  This was such a highlight for me to create, and I do have to give a shout out to my cute hubby who figured out how to make this backdrop fold in half.  I was sad to leave most of these beautiful flowers behind, I can’t keep everything I create for every bride I’d need a storage unit. LOL, but I did snag a few for my office and I know the little flower girls will love having these on their bedroom walls if they can get their hands on them.
