How to set a Halloween table setting

You know those Cobwebs that are swaying from your dinning room chandelier? well leave them girl and set your table using moody Halloween dec0r. I have always loved decorating for Halloween because its pretty simple (no gigantic tree) and I usually keep it to the living room and dinning room. I love making each holiday dinner a bit special by decorating my dinning room table. Let me show you how I got this moody or farmhouse  sophisticated look for my Halloween table using my decor.  I also have a sweet pink  look HERE I did a few years back 

1. the Base layer

I love having tablescapes on my table at all times, but we eat at the table most nights so I like to have a tablecloth or placemats that we can eat on instead of the wood table. I start with a tablecloth or runner and in this case my tablecloth is all scrunched up as the runner LOL, but you can’t really see it. What you can see is my cute paper placemats from Hester and cook . I like to layer a tray or cutting board anything that will make the base more stable for building my table. I did that on the farm house Halloween table as well.

2. add greenery

this will be the thing that ties it all together. You can purchase a garland or just have picks of flowers or greenery that you layer down on the table in my case for the moody table it was a thin garland of leaves and sheets of moss.

3. Set up the extras

I love this part. I love to collect all the things. I get the candles the skulls the pumpkins the votives in little piles on the table, I have cake stands and lifts and levels to the side, and I make sure I have the centerpiece in its spot. 4. Set the centerpiece

I think the place of honor is in the center of the table I like to put it on a pedestal or a lift of some kind to show it off. Some kinds of lifts I like to use are pots tipped upside down and painted boxes and little cupcake stands. Add other larger things after you have your show stopper in place. 5. Fill in the rest

This is the fun part getting all the other odds and ends to fill in the open spots. Be random don’t worry about making it all even, just keep looking for color balance. you can also add filler greens if you think you need more. Using natural elements is always a good thing, sticks and pinecones, moss, and things from the garden.

6 Work the room

Make sure you face things to both sides of the table don’t put all the votives on one side LOL I’ve done that before but hey it looked amazing as you came into the room. As you can see I’ve done two different looks with the Halloween things I had. I mixed them with my farmhouse fall things and with my moody black Halloween things and got two fun looks for the season with the same Halloween decor.
