The kids are back in class, and you are back to your routine. Do you remember the routine? I’m not quite sure I do! The last three months have been jam packed with pool time, late nights, yard games, vacations, weddings, organizing clients, and all the messes that come along with it. Now that you’ve got the house to yourself again, why not mix it up a bit? Here are a few things you can do now that your kids are hitting the books!
Is there something you’ve always wanted to know how to do? Well, now is your time to learn something new! Whether it’s learning to play a new instrument, or becoming more tech savvy, it’s never too late to learn a new skill! Something I’ve been looking into, is learning how to be a little bit handier around the house. When you’re in a pinch, it’s good to know that you’ll be able to make the situation better! Pick something that best fits your life, broaden your horizon!
We all have that one book we’ve wanted to get around to reading, well how about a lunch reading break? Whether it’s a guilty pleasure, your trying to learn something new, or you’re finding a place to learn about, get into those pages! If you have a tablet, or prefer good old fashioned paper, reading is an awesome pastime. It keeps your brain active, and can help you relax on those especially “wearing” days. And if by chance your favorite place to read your new preferred literature is in a bubble bath, more power to you! *Cue aromatherapy bath salts*
Let’s get organized! There is no time like the present to get your house in order. With the kids out of the way you can easily organize closets, the pantry, your fridge, creative spaces, the laundry room, I could go on forever… LOL. I LOVE to organize, and I seem to get a ton of clients in the fall, LOL probably because it easier to organize with out little ones under foot. If you don’t want me to come over I do have some fun links to my past blogs on how to get started. It can seem intimidating at first, but you can start small. Pick one room, or even one section of a room, like a bookshelf or a desk, and see what you can do to transform your clutter! Let’s be honest, if you have had a moment of losing something right in front of your face *guilty*, why not figure out where everything is and give it a more permanent home? Feel free to rid yourself of the things you don’t need anymore, and upgrade your organizing game!
Is there something you’ve been wanting to do? Maybe a fitness goal, or even just meeting new friends? Taking a class is a fantastic way to get social, and learn that you had that amazing salsa dancer inside you all along! Okay, maybe some of us have two left feet, but there are a million things out there that you can take a class on. Boxing, speed reading, gardening (yes they have a class for that), meditating, yoga, cooking, the list is endless. Embrace your dreams! Maybe even impress your spouse with your newfound baking skills. Make some friends along the way! Or better yet, bring a friend with you so you can enjoy each other’s company and possible clumsiness. My hubby and I call these fancy dates. We each choose something we have been dying to learn or do and the other spouse has to do it with you. There is never any complaining because you know he will have to come with you and you will have to go fly fishing with him. It will broaden your achievements, or make for a fantastic dinner story. Either way, taking a class is a great way to spend your free time. So what are you waiting for get out there and learn something new!
