I’m not going to lie there are lots of recipes for this delightful butterscotch & salted caramel desert on Pinterest, with home made caramel and homemade pudding. I’m sure those recipes taste like a 5 star restaurant but who has the time to make such a decadent dessert when your planning a shower or party?
here’s my easy semi homemade version of this yummy showstopper dessert. what you need to buy at the store: and the fun time laps from Instagram
The rest of the ingredients you probably have. I started by crushing the cookies and mixing just enough melted butter 1/2 stick to make a crust. spoon into little cups if your taking it to a party. it will make about 25 little cups.
Drizzle the salted caramel I love Postre sea salt caramel, over the shortbread cookies using a squeeze bottle (it makes it so easy), then sprinkle a bit of flaky salt on top of the caramel. Don’t be afraid to sprinkle generously because of all the rich flavors the salt sometimes get lost.
This dessert would be yummy at my cute Baby-Q shower too!
The pudding is next. Now I’m not going to lie my homemade is so divine that it will win county fairs every time! If you want a great recipe for this DM me on Instagram and I’ll hook you up. However I feel like the cooked butterscotch pudding isn’t too bad as a substitute. (save the regular mix with cold milk is the one you can do for kid party’s or if you need to make hundreds of these for a wedding). its ok just not as good. After you make the pudding use the beaters to mix in an entire jar of Postre salted caramel for that extra caramelly goodness.
Who doesn’t’ like cream cheese frosting. I’d say use your favorite recipe, or mix one room temp cream cheese with one stick of butter and a couple cups of powder sugar and vanilla. If its too thick because of cold ingredients or you like a thinner frosting use a few Tb of cream to make it more spreadable. then top the cups of pudding with the cream cheese frosting. I used a pipping bag and it was so pretty.
ok peeps don’t forget to save a bit of caramel to drizzle on top of the frosting. It jsut makes it look so pretty. and a touch of Sprinkles mixed with a touch of flake salt will take it to the next level.
So you see pretty dang easy just like all the things I do. but this one seems like its extra special I think its the little tiny cups that make it so special lol
Happy Partying
