Okay, let’s get real for a second. We’ve all had that late-night craving that can only be satisfied by breaking open an unbaked, frozen, version of our favorite cookie. Alright, maybe it was 3:00 in the afternoon and it was just a little hot, but hey, it hit the spot, didn’t it? While we’re on the subject, there isn’t much you can do to make good old-fashioned cookie dough better because it’s pretty amazing as-is, right? WRONG. Dead wrong. Cookie dough fudge is the best way to improve cookie dough. And yes, it is just as delicious, if not more, than it sounds. So, whether it’s for a get together, dessert for the family, or your little secret, you can thank me later.
The best part about this cookie dough fudge is that it is incredibly quick and easy to make. I found the original recipe here, but I made a few adjustments after some accidental smoke in my microwave, OOPS! In my defense, the recipe told me to! Note to those who, like me, occasionally ignore your gut feeling because the recipe “says so”, listen to your gut, or enjoy the smell of flaming flour. It’s not an enjoyable scent. *opens all windows*
First things first, mix the butter, sugar and vanilla so it’s nice and creamy. Now here is where I made my smelly mistake. The original recipe says to microwave the flour for three minutes on high. I know what you’re thinking, it sounds like a long time! Well you would be right. It is way too long! So, after I set the first batch on fire and filled my kitchen with smoke, I tried again with 30 seconds on high, and it came out smelling like a yummy warm cookie! You’ll then mix in the flour and salt. It’s going to look a little crumbley, (that’s a word, right?) but that is what it’s supposed to do! Add in about a cup of your semisweet chocolate chips, (I used milk chocolate because I’m a sweet tooth and I love that creamy flavor) I may or may not have put the whole bag in… but you’ll want to save some to sprinkle on top at the end.
Next, you’ll move on to your fudge mix. Grab your favorite white chocolate, mine are Ghirardelli white chocolate chips. Melting them is super easy. You can either melt them down in a double broiler pan, or you can put them in a microwave safe bowl and put them in for 30 second intervals, stirring between each one, until melted. Once your chocolate is nice and creamy, stir together your melted chocolate and can of sweetened condensed milk in a separate bowl from your cookie dough mix.
You’ll then fold in your fudge mix into your cookie dough mix, until blended to your liking. Pour your cookie dough fudge into a greased and parchment paper lined baking dish. I love my straight sided square tin, I got on amazon last year. Spread it evenly, and then sprinkle your left over chocolate chips of choice on the top, I mean the ones you didn’t eat while making this, or is that just me? LOL. When it’s all said and done, slide your new delicacy into your fridge. It be firm and fudgy in about two hours, If you can wait that long, if you can’t it does taste like out of the oven melted cookie dough which I found out is now my favorite indulgence. After that you can cut the pieces as big or small as you see fit. Maybe save the biggest pieces for yourself, I won’t tell! This will be a major hit with whomever you share! If you liked this cookie dough recipe you might love my cookie dough cookies, a bit more involved but the best chocolate chip cookie recipe ever!
Thank you so much for posting the recipe… I can’t wait to try it!
